H-ITTShow  RXShow_Authoring.bmp

This is a guided tour of the H-ITTShow application. These step-by-step instructions are a great place to start to introduce yourself to use the application. You can experience the power of H-ITTShow without the hardware, in the keypad option tab shown below, just select Keyboard as the Keypad type, and you can simulate real keypad inputs.

H-ITTShow works within PowerPoint and allows your presentation to become interactive with your audience. You can use pre-designed templates called Popins, simply text edit them to suit your needs using standard PowerPoint tools. All of the Popins are fully customizable, meaning you can change the text, color, size and style in just a few clicks. H-ITTShow comes with hundreds of Popins and clips for you to choose from.

The first step to getting up and running is to make sure the H-ITT base receiver is connected and communicating with H-ITTSHow. Use the Quick start guide to get the hardware connected, then test that keypad remote clickers are getting in as follows:From the H-ITTShow in your Windows bottom tray, click on the Options tab, and the keypad set up screen appears. Press the test button, and fire in the A/1 key on some remotes. The remote ID number will appear in the window.

Next, run the H-ITTShow demo.ppt. to get familiar with how it works. From the Windows bottom tray H-ITTShow icon, select reference library, highlight the Demo.ppt, and click on the open reference button. Notice that this reference library also contains some Popins, and in the Support category you will see additional clips.

The Demo PowerPoint presentation will start. In the first part of the show, there is a slide titled
H-ITT TRANSMITTER SERIAL # REGISTRATION. This is one method to assign keypad serial numbers to a reference number. This method is an Anonymous type because there are no names associated with the keypad inputs. If you want to associate participants names to the keypad serial numbers they are using, you can easily create a “Roster” in excel. The pre-designed Roster is inserted in the beginning of the presentation, and will allow you to grade and evaluate each participants answers and responses.

Advancing through the Demo.PPT you will see examples of Interactive slides in a variety of forms, from simple question text with multiple choice answers, demographic studies, multi digit answering, to team activities and more. Each interactive slide gives you options for saving the data from that slide. All saved data is in Excel format and includes separate tabs for general data, test data, and survey results. In addition you can save a screen shot of the results slide if you want. Options such as how and where you want data saved, along with many more options regarding the properties of the slide are found in the page Author, the H-ITT Icon in the upper left hand corner of every interactive slide.

The 3 typical components of an interactive slide are:

  • Question statement and answer options
  • Status of the responding keypads
  • Results when all keypads have responded.

The following sample slides have the 3 components identified. These are just some of the pre-designed Popins, The following items describe some of the features and uses of H-ITTSHow, and are just some of the pre-prepared Popins and clips you can choose. Also, it is simple to customize any slide, just copy and paste any component (i.e. a bar graph, a status marquee a timer etc). Easily mix and match as you want.

Question with multiple-choice answers. The question you want the participants to respond to can be typed in the title block, or in a text box, or you can copy and paste your question from word, or other editor compatible with PowerPoint. Multiple-choice answers can be simple yes/no or up to 10 choices. This example shows 5 possible answers, and the results are shown as percentages.

After a question/answer, or at anytime in your slide show, the H-ITTShow can randomly select a “lucky” participant to verbally give a response. In addition to random selection, H-ITTShow lets Volunteers “click in” if they want to volunteer to give an answer or ask a question. You can choose the first volunteer, or have H-ITTShow randomly select from the volunteers.

This is an example of a multiple-choice with a horizontal bar graph result. Results can be pie charts, line graphs or any chart/graph type used in PowerPoint. Notice the fixed Marquee status. This Status indicator has a box for each participant, when they key in their answer the box turns green. If they key in an answer that is “out of range” their box turns red. Template marquees are provided, and can be up to 350 students. Another type of Marquee is the up-dated Marquee where only the non-responded participants box remains visible.

Priority rank example. Participants key in their top 2 choices, and the H-ITTShow calculates and displays the composite rank index. The fixed marquee status here allows for 100 participants. The results are a scaled index with each category having between 0 and 100 possible ranking points.

Demographic studies. With H-ITTShow you can use the anonymous mode with any slide to get a demographic analysis. In this example anonymous inputs are received that identify 3 separate groups. No Marquee is shown to maintain the anonymous status. The results are not saved.

Subsequent questions asked of the pre-determined demographic groups may collect opinions or ideas, and the results can display differences among groups and form the basis for more meaningful discussions.

Team and group activities. In this example the participants choose a team they want to be on. You can easily rename any group or add as many groups you want. When the team assignments are made, subsequent questions are asked, and the results are tallied and can be displayed as any results format you want. You are not limited to the number of questions asked in a team assignment. The results can be saved or not.

Team activities promote peer discussion, and is a fun way to get class involvement. You can show as many “place” winners as you want. You can also show periodic results for all questions to let the participants and groups know how they are scoring.

You can also show individual high scores either at the end of a question sequence, or intermediately to let everyone know who is “winning” at any time.

Reporting: Results from an Interactive PowerPoint presentation are saved to a database when you choose to save data using the slide Author. The Database compiles all results into 3 categories in an excel spreadsheet.
The Overall results tab provides all information that was tagged as save to database in the Author.

The Test tab of the results spread separates out those questions/answers that were tagged as a test question. This makes it easy to grade only test questions. Also, you can weight test questions if needed.

Survey questions are found on the 3rd tab of the results spreadsheet. Again separated for easy access.
