Monday October 9, 2006: Hyper-Interactive Teaching Technology (H-ITT), a leader in hand-held remote technology for the classroom, is now offering a new, radio frequency (RF) base classroom response system.
|
H-ITT's radio frequency (RF) version of its classroom response system is fast and easy to use. It can record up to 1,000 responses in 1 second using a single base unit and can be used in the same classroom as the current IR system. In addition, the range of the system is 300 feet and 62 independent channels means that it wont suffer from room to room interference. The RF base unit is shown to the right and is about the same size as the IR base unit but with the addition of an antenna. The RF base connects to a USB port and draws its power from the same port.
H-ITT will sell the RF remote (part number 3000) and the RF base unit (part number 4000) starting this Fall. The base units will be available for shipping in November and the remotes will be available for shipping in December. The two-way RF system was designed using H-ITT's patent pending technology currently used by its two-way IR system. |
Similarities of H-ITT's IR and RF systems:
Differences between H-ITT's IR and RF systems:
| A 40 student beta test of H-ITT's RF system has been underway since July 2006 and the performance results have been amazing. A response time histogram showing all the responses getting recorded in under 2 seconds is shown to the right, with the majority of student responses get recorded in under 1 second. The instructor mentioned that the initial delay in the graph was due to a delay in him telling the students to begin responding. He also mentioned that the speed is so fast that there is no interruption in the class time and that the installation and setup of both the hardware and software was a breeze. |
H-ITT develops their software using C++ and the popular open-source wxWidgets (www.wxWidgets.org) C++ library. This library allows H-ITT's software development team to target multiple platforms from one code base. In addition, utilizing wxWidgets allows the applications to have the native look-and-feel of their respective operating systems.
