Monday August 8, 2005: H-ITT's new base unit connects to any computer with a USB port.
Hyper-Interactive Teaching Technology (H-ITT), a leader in hand-held remote technology for the classroom, today announced a new base unit design that connects to any Windows, MAC and Linux computer using the USB port. The base units are used by instructors to collect responses from the student remote units (clickers). The base units then send the responses to the computer which records them using the H-ITT software. The new base units will be available in October 2005.
The key advantages of the new USB base units are:
The front of the new base unit is shown below.
The bottom of the base unit showing (from left to right) the USB port, the Cat 5 in port, the Cat5 out port, and the power supply port is shown below.
The foundation of H-ITT is both its low-cost hand held device that enables students to respond electronically to questions or quizzes provided by professors in the classroom, and its powerful and free software that enables the students and instructors to maximize the potential of the technology. Student feedback can be viewed in real-time allowing instructors to adjust their teaching methodology based on the level of comprehension. The software automatically grades the responses and even e-mails the students their results after each class period.
